Enayat Roshan dream is to become the next world champion in mixed martial arts (MMA). He will do this while getting an education and with no money.
Roshan has been seeking asylum for more than nine months. After arriving in Denmark from Afghanistan, he was placed in the main asylum camp Sandholm. It was not long before he began to search for ways to pass the time.
Looking for training
Education being the first priority, Roshan enrolled in KEA (Københavns erhvervsakademi), a school for design and technology, where he began his studies in networking. After his first semester, Roshan started to look for training centers to practice kickboxing as he did back home in Afghanistan for the national team. He found CSA (Combat Sports Academy) club, the only MMA or free fight club in Grøndal, a place where he could pick up his training where he left off in Afghanistan.
Next world champion
I want to be the next world champion, so I have to find a lot of time. But if a person is thirsty, he will find water. My class is starting at 8:30 in the morning and ends at 14 while MMA is starting at 17 and finish at 19. So I take the last bus which leaves from Viby Sjælland towards Avnstrup Camp,” says Roshan.
His coach, Carsten Garne Ettrup noticed Roshan’s talent and offered him a place in the class free of charge.
“One day you will see me in the ring, fighting for the club. I’m looking forward to that day,” says Roshan.
