New Times is a news resource produced by asylum seekers in Denmark.
With an editorial staff of around 10 asylum seekers and a Danish journalist/Editor, New Times gives a voice to one of the most marginalized groups in our society – the asylum seekers. Through New Times they are granted a voice to speak about the issues that affect them. Reading New Times thus gives an insight in the daily life and challenges of the asylum seekers in Denmark.
The project is supported by the Danish Red Cross and has existed since 1995.
The quarterly magazine is distributed to all members of Parliament, journalists, media houses, asylum centers, educational institutions and private subscribers in 2500 copies.
The project is being assisted with a tremendous amount of help from volunteers.
The opinions expressed are those of the authors and the persons interviewed and not – unless stated clearly – the opinion of the Red Cross.
