Human beings need to sleep every day, but whenever one meet emergencies, stress or insecurity, the natural law of the body and regulations can be damaged.

Sleep insufficiency of asylum seekers can develop into social problems. Stressed asylum seekers can easily become irritated. Right suggestions and actions based on the complete understanding of asylum seekers nightmare need to be taken.

Manal has been waiting for nine months

Manal came from Syria, where she used to be a secretary. She began to suffer from sleep insufficiency two months after she came to Denmark. Most of the night she has nightmares, where she is dreaming that a grave has been prepared for her seventeen years old daughter Sara. She looks all around for her daughter in the nightmare, but can not find her. She wakes up and cries all night long. The most thing is that she has stayed in the camp for more than nine months and she has only got through the first interview with immigration office. This has made her insomnia symptoms even more serious and has given her a high blood pressure.

“I’m not an ill person to meet a psychologist, but please give me positive. Please bring my daughter here. I’m afraid she’ll be raped in Syria. Save my children.They need protection,” Manal says.

Hanna is nineteen years old and comes from Palestine. She also has been suffering from nightmare since she got the negative  answer from immigration office: “I think a lot about my mum and dad. My mum is in Lebanon and my dad is in Algeria. That was why I could not sleep. I miss them so much. I don’t know where my future is. I’m only nineteen. I need to be protected. I need to go to university and finish my education,“ says Hanna.

“I don’t need a doctor actually. It just happened to me. I don’t think they can understand because they haven’t been through this. No matter what they do, I will still have the same feeling, they can’t change that,” says Hanna.

Doctor: Sleeping pills, meditation or counseling

Mr. Qin is a Chinese doctor specialized in Chinese medicine based on the universe system. He says that: “There are so many ways for this kind of adjustment, such as sleeping pills. But this is not the best way because sleeping pills usually cause negative effect on nervous system, organs and gastrointestinal system.“

Instead Mr. Qin suggest: ”We can take some natural way to adjust. For example acupuncture, massage, psychological counseling, Qigong or meditation When you practice tobe calm inside, there will be a recover of the organ’s function system. This is a very good method.”

“Whenever one has a settlement for the heart, he will never be hesitated nor worried,” Mr. Qin says.
