When I came Copenhagen for the first time in 2001, I was surprised by the number of cyclists flowing in the city. Immediately I rented a bike just next the train station and joined the crowd Copenhagen cyclist; and it was a pleasant bike ride.

Now, I have two bikes, one for mountain, because I use it for the wood and I love the nature, and the other is for racing.

The state helps

The Danish state encourages and helps people to use the bike. There are thousands kilometers bicycles paths in Copenhagen, and the state built more new cycling roads all the time. Everybody in Denmark uses the bike, both young and old people, for work or spare time. You even see members of the parliament or ministers riding their bike to the parliament.

Cycling remains the best means of transportation; it´s clean, healthy, economic and fast in the traffic jam.

This nice tradition

I have never seen this cycling tradition in other countries except Holland. In France people practice cycling in the countryside and outside the cities, and only now the authorities start to build cycling paths in Paris and in the big towns. In France, vehicle drivers have little regard for cyclists.

A good raison

One of the reasons why I love Denmark is this wonderful culture of bicycle, and therefore I hope with all my heart, that Copenhagen will become the first cycling capital in 2025.
